Oh Boy! The Buddy Holly Show

PRESS RELEASE

“Oh Boy,” It’s a Buddy good act!!

Oh Boy – A Tribute to Buddy Holly and Friends is a fresh and welcome change from conventional tribute shows. There is not only Buddy Holly represented in this show but the ‘Friends’ are a host of Rock’n’Roll legends in their own right including, amongst others, Dion (remember ‘The Wanderer’?) Bill Haley with his ‘Rock Around the Clock’ to Eddie Cochran and the ‘Summertime Blues’!! Of course Buddy Holly’s great friends Ritchie Valens with La Bamba together with The Big Bopper and his trademark Heeeeello Baby make for a complete night of great musical memories.

Don McLean’s song American Pie referred to it as ‘the day the music died’…. However, this show ensures that the music will live on…..

The Oh Boy Show has been thrilling audiences internationally with their music, humour and unique presentation for 19 years. If you are not entertained by this show you are in the too hard to please basket…… The musical rapport between the members of the show coupled with the irreverent sense of humour of the Irish-born Buddy (aka Paul McCann) will have you talking about this show for months if not years to come. Paul unerringly personifies Buddy whilst at the same time is himself with his gift of humor, story telling and observations on life. You could almost be forgiven into thinking this is a concert performed in the intimacy of your loungeroom.

There is no need to ‘Think it Over’, this event doesn’t happen ‘Everyday’ so make sure the opportunity to see this show does ‘Not Fade Away’ because ‘That’ll be the Day’ that you regret not buying your ticket to see this show - ‘Oh Boy’ !!!

Oh Boy – Buddy’s Back with Friends’ show has been entertaining audiences since 1990 - working nationally and internationally throughout that period. The show is a two hour variety cabaret show that portrays the music of Buddy Holly and a range of other artists from the 1950’s era ranging from Ritchie Valens, The Big Bopper, Bill Haley, Roy Orbison, Dion, Paul Anka to name a few!! These other artists are portrayed by seasoned performers in cameo role appearances. The show is a tight, theatrically presented performance with something for everyone.

Over the years the show has performed on many TV appearances both in Australia and abroad. In addition to this, the list of venues and clients we have performed for are numerous. Leaving aside all the major club venues in Sydney, the show has worked a host of regional theatres and Civic centres across Australia. The show has also performed in just about every part of Asia over the last 15 years in many major hotel chains such as the Marco Polo, The Omni, The Hilton, The Ritz Carlton etc. Appearances have also been made on the Malaysian owned Star Cruises Cruise line where the show performed on one of their major ships for an unprecedented 12 weeks straight. We have also performed at many exclusive clubs and resorts in Asia such as the Tanglin, British, Keppel and American Clubs. There have been numerous performances for a range of corporate clients in Australia, NZ and Asia such as The Ford Motor Company, Harley Davidson Motorcycles Singapore, The Singapore and Hong Kong Jockey Clubs and Dick Smith Electronics in recent times.

The show currently consists of a 9 member cast. The musicians performing with the show are seasoned professionals who have impressive resumes individually and collectively having played with recording artists and international stage shows themselves. The lead role of the show is performed by Paul McCann who has been performing professionally since the age of 16 and has shared the stage with entertainment luminaries such as the late John Denver and Lou Rawls together with a host of others.

To assist with promotion we possess a range of marketing tools such as TV commercials and postcard ads for those venues with mailing lists. There are also a number of other advertising tools we will provide to enable the promotion of the show to reach the greatest number of potential clients possible. We can discuss this further should you wish to proceed with a booking.

Lastly, the show performs in concert mode only – in other words, all seated and no dance floor scenario.
