“Our songs are about our lives and everyday experiences. Putting it all out there can be daunting, especially if it’s raw and personal, but for listeners to really connect you have to come from a genuine and open place.” – Paula Bowman – Vocals

Jetty Road is back with a new story to tell.  After spending some time in hiatus, they have returned with an album full of musical diversity. Aptly named Hearts On Fire, the album represents an evolution for the band and their distinctive sound.  Travelling half way across the globe to Canada to record again with producer Paul Shatto (Far Away Places) at the helm, the new album is a reflection of the emotional journey over the past few years.

“There are songs that speak of love, joy, betrayal, heartbreak, hope and everything in between, a little bit like riding a rollercoaster. Whether that’s in a lyric, a melody or simply the way a song makes you feel.” Lee Bowman – Guitar and Vocals

January 2015 marked their 10-year anniversary together, a milestone rarely seen within music circles today. It’s easy to see the progression from their humble beginnings at Australia’s Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2005 to where they are today.  After busking on Tamworth’s famous Peel St they placed second in the Busking Championship, winning themselves a $500 cheque and enough money to pay for the 15 hour drive back home.  It didn’t take long for the group to start racking up some serious credentials from there on in.  A chance meeting with Australian country music legend James Blundell turned into an 18-month tour as his support act.

Ten years on this talented trio are now stars of Country Music, where they’ve travelled the world doing Australia proud during numerous international tours and major North American festival appearances. Taking their music to the world stage has been a career highlight for the group. Playing main stage performances at festival giants Big Valley Jamboree (Canada), WE Fest (US), Havelock Jamboree (Canada), Merritt Mountain CM Festival (Canada), plus Norway and Switzerland's famous Vinstra and Trucker & Country Festivals alongside the cream of country music including Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Vince Gill, Gretchen Wilson, Dwight Yoakam, and Glen Campbell amongst others.

The group has also won a multitude of awards and accolades along the way with two Golden Guitars, an APRA Award nomination, five Southern Star Independent Artist of Australia Awards and 10 number one charting songs to their name.

After the parting of band member Simon Ross in 2013 they took some time out to “take a breath” and re-evaluate their motives and direction. “The success of Jetty Road has always been in the sum of its parts, not one individual” Paula said. “An important element changed in the line up and the last thing we wanted to do was rush back into recording another album.”

This break was a crucial point for the band, realizing this was a chance to further develop their sound and to start a new chapter.

“On previous albums we had a very specific direction and end-point in mind. This time we simply wrote the song for the song; for what it was. We did the same when recording in the studio. We went in to the process with open minds and let the music guide us” Jules said.

The group’s decision to go where the music took them has delivered an organic, contemporary sound and some of the best songs they’ve ever written. “It allowed us to push the envelope quite a bit” Lee said. “We still sound like Jetty Road, of course, but there’s a real mix of influences in there. Some people have likened some of the new songs to artists as varied as Lady Antebellum, Fleetwood Mac, The Wreckers and maybe even a little Crowded House.”

“We’re excited, nervous - similar to being a parent on the first day of school. It’s like pushing our babies (songs) out there for the first time to fend for themselves. But we’re ready to let go now, we’re ready for the world to listen.”

Hearts On Fire is released in May 2015 and Jetty Road will be touring from May through to December 2015.
